The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, " For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh, 4 since the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments 5 and every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ." In this message we examine the context as well as the application of these words to our lives.

“I baptize you with[water for repentance, but the One who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove His sandals. He Himself will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." Matthew 3:11

Dec 29, 2019Negative AttachmentsBy: Curtis CrawfordSeries: general
Over the years, we pick up habits, negative attitudes, and a litany of other dangerous attachments, which, if left in place, can hurt us. Some of them are our fault while others were attached to us by the actions and words of others,. Regardless of the source, they are equally dangerous and must be dealt with. It is not God's will for us to live in captivity and He can deliver us if we seek Him.

Zacharias and Elizabeth had given up hope on having a child. Elizabeth was barren and well beyond child bearing age. This all changed one day as Zacharias served in the temple. An angel appeared to him with a promise from God, "“Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John." (Luke 1:13) Zacharias was skeptical, but God delivered on His promise and many lives were changed. No matter how bleak things look, remember as long as God is on the throne there is always hope and hope in Him will never disappoint (Romans 5:5)!

When you and I enter into the presence of God, we must do so with a heart of humility and a sense of our dependence upon Him.

The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." If Christ is the Lord of your life, you do not have to walk in condemnation. He has forgiven you and will never remember your sin against you again.

If rebelliousness towards God is the reason we are in the midst of affliction, our deliverance can only begin after sincere repentance.

Anything, good or bad, we elevate to God's level is worthless in comparison to Him. He alone should sit upon the throne of our hearts. Yet, we are easily distracted by many things each day and rarely realize they are attempting to usurp His rightful place as Lord of our lives. It is time for many of us to ask God to "Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way" (Psalm 119:37).

We do not have to live our lives weighed down by fear, bitterness, anger, or even sin. Jesus came so that we can have abundant life and freedom. All we have to do is ask!
