Matthew 7:24, 25 – “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”
The wise man could face the challenges in his life because of the foundation of obedience to Christ that was laid as God began to work. Obedience, based solely on our faith in Christ, is what keeps a person faithful even when they don’t understand why. When the temptation is great or the tribulations are hard, faithful obedience is required for us to hold fast and become the masterpiece God has purposed us to be.
I can promise you, if you are obedient to God as He works in you and around you, your life will be abundant and filled with joy (Isaiah 1:19; Job 36:11, 12).
Reflection:
- Do you believe obedience is critical to becoming the masterpiece God purposed you to be? Why or why not?
- On a scale of one to ten, how obedient are you to God? Why?
- What changes can you make today to live a life of faithful obedience?
